As a software engineer focused on delivering services for database infrastructure and data platform, the successful candidate will also work with architects and other infrastructure teams to come up with standards/architecture for provisioning/life cycle management/monitoring of NoSQL databases like mongoDB and Cassandra as a Service.Work with testing and production piloting new and emerging database/storage technologies and maturing them from the operational perspective.Responsible for the development and lifecycle of the portfolio of database offerings/services.Shape the database strategy and architecture with respect to NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Cassandra.You would also be responsible for designing and developing modular/extensible services to automate the database tasks and expose them to our customers.You will also provide automation for the routine database management tasks in an extensible and modular services framework.

Job Requirements

We are looking for bright and self-motivated software engineer, with excellent computer science fundamentals, responsible for developing framework, tools and services using cutting-edge technologies that incorporate software engineering best practices to enhance eBay’s software development and delivery capability.

Experience in these areas is highly valued:


  • Good Experience in large scale, distributed systems and Java development
  • Good experience in object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java and J2EE, including Servlets, JSP, Java Beans, EJB, JMS, RMI, JDBC.
  • Experience working with automation for database infrastructure for cloud/self service platform.
  • Good understanding of database principles as it relates to relational, ACID and non relational and noSQL architecture.
  • Experience working with organizations such as Product Management, Load & Performance, Security, Build/Release, QA and Training
  • Experience in distributed multi-tier systems
  • Extensive experience developing frameworks or other infrastructure code that others will use.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing large server software with particular attention to security, scalability and high performance.
  • Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus.

Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
