You'll work with a team of world-class iOS developers and quality assurance team members to build unique apps that delight users.

• Work closely with a team of engineers who generate high quality web services in support of mobile applications.
• Implement features and fix bugs in cutting edge software products
• Work with QA, Product, and Operations teams to define and meet quality and business requirements
• Provide realistic estimates to implement features and fix bugs
• Generate builds, document changes, and update issue tracking database
• Design, write and update functional and technical specifications

Job Requirements

• 4+ years of experience generating commercial quality iOS applications using Objective C and Cocoa
• Comfortable with rapid development cycles, tight schedules, tight integration with QA and product management
• User-interface programming experience is a plus
• Depending upon your skill level, and assuming you are willing to travel on occasion, you can work from anywhere in the US. We support geographically distributed teams.

As a Software Engineer on the RedLaser team, you'll be developing and extending one of the most popular products for mobile platforms. You'll be a key member of a small, focused team operating as a startup within eBay Inc. to shape the future of mobile commerce.

Job Requirements

• Write C++, C#, Java, and PHP code for server-side code and web applications.
• Create robust high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes.
• Be an active participant in an agile development environment - work with team members to define features and the technical strategy needed to deliver those features to end user

Qualifications

• BSCS/similar degree with a strong academic record, graduate degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience developing creative, compelling, user facing, and web-enabled applications
• Extensive programming experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Objective C, C#, Java, PHP (strong OO skills preferred).
• Experience with Hadoop, HBase, and/or Cassandra a plus
• Experience with mobile development, methodologies and toolkits
• A solid understanding of how to interface front-end components with back-end interfaces
• Strong Javascript, HTML, CSS skills
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Ability to operate in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
• Energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.

eBay Acquires Style-Focused, Social, Curated Shopping Site Svpply

eBay Acquires Style-Focused, Social, Curated Shopping Site Svpply | TechCrunch

eBay has just announced the acquisition of Svpply, a New York-based startup that aims to replicate the feeling of window-shopping online with a social, curated and personalized experience. The acquisition, the terms of which are undisclosed, was announced on the company’s blog,
Svpply offers curated selection of stylish merchandise from across the Web. The site allows you keep track of products you like. Based on your friends on Twitter and Facebook, Svvply will show you products they like, help you discover products from other users, and allows users to display galleries of items they want or own.
eBay issued this statement about the acquisition, Today, the company has acquired the innovative team and technology of Svpply.com, a website that unifies theonline retail shopping experience by bringing shoppers, tastemakers and merchants onto a single site.
As of May, the Svpply was seeing around 620,000 product views a week with 140,000 registered members and 700,000 unique users who come by to browse every month. They’ve also seen about 37,000 downloads of their iPhone and iPad apps, which were launched in May.
Svpply, which was co-founded by Vimeo designer Zach Klein, has raised $550,000 from Spark Capital, SV Angel, Dennis Crowley, Jason Hirschhorn and Founder Collective.
eBay says that with the acquisition, the company eBay “gains access to technology talent to further improve the shopping and selling experience for its customers. Svpply.com assets – including a talented team of six designers and developers – are well-suited to help eBay advance more personalized experiences and merchandising options on eBay.com.”
The Svpply team will work on merchandising, non-search discovery and browsing, and will remain in New York.
