Primary Job Responsibilities

This is a unique challenge of working on test engineering complexity of eBay’s globally-scaled eCommerce web services that serve as a key business platform for thousands of unique customers.

This software test engineering position will contribute to the implementation of multi-tier distributed software applications, specifically:

• As part of the Quality Engineering team, this individual should be able to perform and complete testing projects/tasks independently and lead test engineering projects. Be actively involved in all testing stages for varieties of software code base. Part of the code base includes: Application and Component Frameworks, Presentation Infrastructure, Database Access Layer, Services Infrastructure including SOAP, Caching Systems, Common Rules Engine Services, Logging, Static and Dynamic Configuration Services and various Deployment Models.
  
• Help design, develop eBay''s next generation test engineering initiatives as well as help the development of broad testing framework / unit, functional, build validation and integration testing.
  
• Work with engineers, team leads, managers to help developing innovative testing solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles.
  
• Be able to estimate testing effort, prioritize assignments as well as to plan implementations
  
• Help to implement and articulate testing strategies, test automation and test engineering technologies.
  
• Design and implement test solutions.
  
• Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit ratio and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation.
  
• Communicate effectively with peers as well as relevant software development partners.
  
• Develop industry and product technical expertise relevant to eBay''s deployment and business model.
  
• Execute test deliverables following software engineering principles. Innovate.
  

Job Requirements

BSCS with 5yrs+ of experience or a MS with 4+ year experience. Previous QE supervisory work experience preferred.

Good working knowledge of software engineering principles and programming techniques. An individual with a background in software development is required.

· Experience with Soap/XML, JAVA/JUNIT and java based applications required

· Oracle RDBMS experience is highly desirable

· Performance test concept and experience are desirable

· Working knowledge on NT systems

· Experience with Microsoft's IIS and ISAPI DLL development is desired

· Knowledge of J2EE and application servers such as websphere and web-logic is highly desirable

· Quality Assurance background, including JUnit/Code Coverage (Emma)/Mock concepts/Static Analysis is appreciated

· Planning skills to design test plans and test cases for new assigned features, developing test tools for white-box testing. Problem solving skills using programmatic solutions.

· Experience in executing testing tasks and providing timely and accurate analysis of findings. Keeping management informed of progress.

· Ability to communicate effectively with developers, operations, release management
• Ability to understand and articulate how changes in technology impact customer experience, able to lead the test effort and defining strategic testing approach
• Experience in Agile Testing practices is a plus
