54643BR - Java Software Engineer - X.commerce (Austin, TX)

The X.commerce (an eBay company) core infrastructure team is looking for software engineers with strong programming skills and hands-on experience building a pub-sub based infrastructure. Responsibilities include designing and implementing a world class infrastructure to support large scale customers.

Experience must include distributed messaging systems, routing, scalable and monitoring. Security, messaging confidentiality. Exceptional problem solving abilities will be critical for success as will be a focus on quality. The successful candidate will participate in the entire life cycle of a product ranging from architecture through testing and live support.

Specific job responsibilities:

- Work with team architects and product managers to define requirements and approach

- Drive both high-level and detailed technical design documents and conduct design reviews

- Provide feedback on architectural and implementation enhancements

- Provide technical guidance to other software engineers

- Develop unit and system level tests within an automation frameworks

Job Requirements:

Experience developing highly available, reliable, and scalable solutions in JAVA is required; Scala and Python preferred.

Education:

We are looking for outstanding software engineers with a strong command of Java, Python, PHP or Ruby, in a cloud environment to help lead the ongoing design and development of X.Commerce's open commerce platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant web protocols, design patterns, and network. Job Requirements:

- Master Degree in Computer Science is required and an advanced technical degree is preferred
- Self-directed work style with minimum supervision-Work with Product team and management team to come up roadmaps and execute- Experience developing/testing secure production quality software products
- Expert level programming skills are required with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required due to dynamic nature of team discussions
- Knowledge of QA automation processes and tools such as JUnit or Fitnesse- Working experience in a cloud environment is preferred- Experience building high performance, high availability applications is preferred
- Familiarity with Subversion, Eclipse and the Atlassian suite of products (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Fish-eye) is preferred- Familiarity with on-line commerce applications such as Magento is preferred- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and previous experience in a story driven agile environment is a plus

- Familiarity with Linux

- Working experience or knowledge of OpenStack is desired
