Are you excited by transformation, and thrive on finding ways to achieve world-class execution and delight customers with the quality of the product? Do you have ideas for improving efficiency and effectiveness of quality assurance teams, and wish you had the chance to put them into practice? eBay’s Buyer Experience QA team is looking for a dynamic and innovative Sr. Manager for the Advertising and Traffic area. In this role, the ideal candidate will utilize their management skills to lead multiple teams validating technology used internally and externally to optimize natural search and paid search traffic, support partner referrals, and provide landing pages for users following links to the site. The technology covers a wide range, from user interface level to ETL/Data Warehouse. The Sr. Manager will also be a key part of the management team leading eBay’s quality assurance department to the next level of performance, enabling rapid innovation to address customer needs and drive the business.

Job Requirements

* Using your management and quality assurance experience, work closely with peers in Product Management and Product Development to scope and prioritize projects, allocate resources, and plan the product roadmap. You will identify alternatives and trade-offs to provide detailed information to be used by executives in the planning process.

* Lead the transformation of the team from reliance primarily on manual testing, to a model which effectively uses automated tests in a continuous integration environment. Determine which existing automation frameworks and tools can be used, and what custom tools need to be created. The end result should be the ability to easily create automated tests which are easy to maintain and generate reliable results, freeing the QA engineers to do high-value exploratory testing.

* Provide guidance in the execution of projects, ensuring on-time delivery with results that meet or exceed commitments. You will handle escalations and resolve issues when they come up, and work to minimize them through mitigation and contingency planning.

* Play an active role in the continuous improvement process, identifying root causes and corrective actions to avoid repeating mistakes and constantly raise the level of performance of your team.

* Work with managers, leads, and senior technical contributors to find innovative ways to test more effectively. Establish and enforce standards which ensure sufficient quality as delivered by Product Development in your area.

* Mentor managers and leads and assist their career growth, helping them to realize their full potential.

* Ensure test strategies focus on areas of greatest risk, and identify defects as early as possible in the development lifecycle.

You must be customer-focused, resourceful, detail-oriented, adaptable, and flexible. You should have strong leadership skills and a solid technical background. Your background will include successful collaboration in cross-functional teams to deliver products of excellent quality which achieve the business goals. You must be a proactive and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing. In addition:

* At least ten years of experience in quality assurance/quality engineering, including at least five years in a management role. Experience managing managers is highly desired.
