eBay Mobile is looking for a senior manager to lead our mobile platform development team in San Jose.
In this role you will guide a growing team of engineers that design, develop and enhance platform services in support of eBay Marketplaces and adjacency initiatives. You will work closely with the mobile product team to understand our vision, objectives and requirements in order to develop new, innovative and scalable solutions.
This leader will work closely with eBay Mobile client development teams, adjacency development teams as well as with Marketplaces (web) teams to coordinate and manage building services that support the objectives of eBay at the Inc level.
You will also be responsible for providing a primary point of contact with the eBay production / operations team, including resolving production issues as they relate to mobile services.
Key responsibilities include:
· Continue to build, manage and develop a team of software engineers focused on designing and developing mobile services that directly support eBay mobile native and web applications
· Manage the interaction between eBay Mobile and the eBay Marketplaces (web) teams to ensure the services provided support the unique needs of the mobile group
· Provide a primary point of contact for eBay Operations, Capacity and Security teams for mobile platform related activates
· Communicate clearly with executive management as well as highly technical client and server developers to ensure a clear common understanding of status and objectives
· Comfortably manage in a dynamic rapid growth environment with aggressive timelines - where shifts in user behavior and handset technology can have broad impact on the services and data backend.
· Work with product management, QA and other development teams to manage dependencies and work towards a common goal while advocating best practices within eBay
· Be a mentor, technical leader and thought leader for a talented team of engineers, challenging them and helping them grow while fostering a positive and cooperative attitude with all company employees
· Collaborate effectively with distributed development teams and remote colleagues (as the mobile team is located in San Jose and Portland Oregon) to drive innovation and improvements that have a positive impact for our users and our business
· Manage design, deliverables and releases to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications and budgets; proactively identify and resolve resource conflict and set priorities for parallel projects execution
· Contribute in strategic and financial planning to achieve our platform and business objectives
Job Requirements
· Experience in building complex, scalable and high performance web services.
· Strong basis with best of class languages and technologies
· Experience building and managing highly effective software development teams, conducting performance reviews, making compensation decisions and recruiting talent
· Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
· Possess detailed knowledge of software development best practices in support of delivering world-class services and solutions
